Originally incorporated in 1881, Grovetown is a city redefining itself. Located in Columbia County, Georgia, adjacent to Fort Gordon, new residential development fuels Grovetown's conversion from a "country crossroads" into a community with all of the amenities of a 21st century city. Grovetown provides something for everyone: History lovers can venture to the Grovetown History Museum or the Oliver and Hardy Museum, Outdoor Fanatics can head to Euchee Creek Park or the growing greenway, and bookworms can visit the Euchee Creek Library.
Columbia County offers schools that are top choices across the board. Offering superb facilities and a dedicated and highly qualified teaching staff, the education system routinely ranks in the top 10% of Georgia’s 164 school districts. Outside of the classroom, Grovetown offers education through UGA County Extension and 4-H. These programs provide education and leadership training for youth along with agriculture and environment education for all.
Fort Gordon is the current home of the United States Cyber Center of Excellence. The fort is located in Richmond, Jefferson, McDuffie and Columbia counties, and if it had an official hometown, Grovetown would be it. Fort Gordon has approximately 25,000 military and civilian employees and currently has an estimated $1.4 billion economic impact on the Augusta economy.
