Graduate Gift Guide

Categories: Blog, Tips | Posted: May 3, 2018

With graduation right around the corner you might be asking yourself, “What am I going to give as a graduation gift?” Here is a compilation of gifts for every personality and lifestyle:

Keurig Mini

Keurig Mini Plus Brewing System – whether they are heading to the college dorm or heading into the “real world” coffee is usually an essential. This machine has a smaller footprint than the original Keurig making it perfect for dorms and small apartments.

My Heart Wanders by Pia Jane Bijerk – There is the traditional way of doing things, but maybe that’s not exactly the route your graduate wants to take. Encourage them to follow their heart by reading this narrative that celebrates taking risks and living a life that is not the norm.

Wireless Bluetooth headphones – Whether they are walking around campus of sweating it out at the gym, music inspires us. Give your graduate a comfortable pair of headphones that includes a built-in mic so they have no excuse to not answer your phone call.

Recipe Box – One thing that equals adulting is cooking your own meals that don’t come out of a freezer. Give your graduate a recipe box full of some of their favorite recipes and/or some of your personal faves to get them started on the art of cooking.

recipe boxPlanter – Maybe your graduate is more of a green thumb kind of person. Give them the gift of green with a decorative planter to liven up their dorm or apartment.

Diploma Tassel Frame – Let your graduate show off their achievements with a frame. Your school might have offered this already, but the price tag was probably a bit outrageous. Check places such as Amazon for other options, just make sure to measure everything since diplomas come in all shapes and sizes.

EReader – Maybe your graduate is a bookworm but doesn’t have a lot of space for books. An eReader is a portable and non-cluttered way to feed your graduates thirst for novels.
Leather Wallet

A Good Quality Wallet – Wallets hold very important items (cash, cards, ID, etc.), so why trust a paper or low-quality wallet to do the job? Send your graduate onto their new adventure with something that will hold up to their busy lifestyle.

Money – Last, but not least, money is helpful to everyone especially new grads. Whether you give them gift cards or cash, you can rest assured that they will be putting it towards something they really want.

5 Tips to Prepare for a Vacation

Spring is here one day and gone the next, but we all know summer will be here soon! As you plan your summer vacations, don’t forget to prepare your home for the vacation, too. We found numerous tips and reminders, but here are our 5 tips to prepare your home for summer vacation;

  • Use Timers – Lights can be set to come on in the evening mimicking your usual routine.
  • Have a Trusted Neighbor Keep an Eye Out – Make sure to let a trusted neighbor know when you will be gone, so they can alert you to anything out of the ordinary. EXTRA TIP – have the neighbor park in your driveway while you are away.
  • Put a Hold on Your Mail – Nothing says “I’m on vacation” like a full mailbox!
  • Avoid Social Media – It can be hard, we know, but the bad guys are savvy these days. It doesn’t take much effort to see who is on vacation through social media.
  • Water & Thermostats – Consider shutting off the water supply to the house, but do not shut off water to sprinkler systems. Consider turning down the thermostat on water heaters shortly before you leave.
