Social Distancing Family Fun

Categories: Blog, Fun | Posted: April 22, 2020

We’ve all been going a little stir-crazy while staying home these past few weeks and while some of us will be going back to work soon, for others, quarantine might be a bit longer than we hoped. Once you’ve completed all your puzzles and binge-watched every show on Netflix, there is an overwhelming sense of “what now?” Well fear not, we’ve compiled a short list of a few out-of-the-box activities to fend off the boredom. Check out these fun ideas below.

  • Theater Night

Instead of another movie night, why not put on your very own one-man play! Choose your favorite movie, book, play, etc. and act it out for your “audience.” Make a night of it by dressing up, creating theater tickets, preparing popcorn and other snacks – but let’s leave out the tomato throwing, we’re all amateurs here!

  • Camp Home-Base

Grab the tent and sleeping bags out of the attic, its time to camp out in the backyard! Of course, no camping trip is complete without a fire pit, s-mores, hotdogs and campfire stories. To make it even more fun, put together a backyard scavenger hunt!

  • Game Night

Miss your social gatherings with friends? We all understand that! One way to overcome the lonely blues is to host a virtual game night. Grab some snacks and check out this article for some great ideas on how to host your first virtual game night!

  • Plant a Garden

While this is not so much an out-of-the-box idea, it is a great one! Since we’ve all got a little extra time on our hands, why not invest it in starting to grow your own fruits and/or veggies? There is no better feeling than cooking a meal with food you grew yourself! And if you’re not so much into growing food, maybe just plant some beautiful flowers or bushes to give your home a little more curb-appeal.

  • Self-Care Spa night

Let’s face it, these are scary and stressful times that we’re living in right now. In other words, this is the perfect opportunity to relax and unwind with your own spa night. We’re talking face masks, manicures and pedicures, soothing music, foot baths, etc. Get the whole family involved and bond while recharging.

Celebrate Earth Day with ENERGY STAR!

Categories: Uncategorized | Posted: April 20, 2020

This April 22 is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, and the ENERGY STAR program is celebrating by featuring the combined benefits of energy efficiency and green power as the path toward a clean energy future and a healthier environment.

As part of this celebration we are highlighting the leadership demonstrated by our partner organizations and invite you to join us in promoting your efforts to support a healthy planet and inspire all Americans to do the same.

Campaign Overview

ENERGY STAR’s Earth Day 2020 Celebration will be a forward-looking initiative that:

  • Invites consumers to protect the climate through efficient use of renewable energy.
  • Highlights partner commitments to climate protection through investments in energy efficiency and green power.

In similar campaigns, we have been able to achieve broad reach and engagement with social/digital media-focused efforts featuring specific consumer calls-to-action on how to help protect the climate. The ENERGY STAR Earth Day 2019 campaign resulted in nearly 3 million mpressions just on social and a total of 77 million impressions nationwide.

This year we are inviting partners to communicate on Twitter and other social platforms on Earth Day, April 22, using a 30-second video that we will provide to all partners on April 2. (See the storyboard). We will be amplifying your social shares through re-Tweets and re-posts throughout the day creating a ground swell of celebration. ENERGY STAR will also be amplifying the outreach through paid media efforts on social and through native article placements in papers across the country. Communications will drive to a campaign landing page on energystar.gov that features educational content about ENERGY STAR products and green power purchasing, while highlighting participating partners that also participate in EPA’s Green Power Partnership.

Benefits of Participation
Your organization is a leader in energy efficiency, and as such, you are already demonstrating the commitment and value of investing in smart energy choices. You have the opportunity to engage and inspire. As the country’s trusted resource for energy efficiency, ENERGY STAR is in a unique position to help highlight our partners’ achievements. Let’s leverage the power of our collective reach to inspire everyone to follow your lead.

We look forward to celebrating the 50th anniversary of Earth Day with you. Please send any questions to:
